At a glance

Established in 1984, the top-ranking car dealership has built a strong reputation and presence across Kerala. To reduce electricity costs, the organisation partnered with DE under a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA).

After successfully completing three rooftops in Phase 1, the customer explored adding more systems independently but faced execution challenges and lower-than-expected savings. They subsequently re-engaged DE for Phase 2, adding five additional rooftops to the portfolio. This model enabled the dealership to adopt clean energy with no upfront investment, while DE continues to manage performance, operations, and maintenance across all live sites.

Challenges and solutions

1. Voltage instability challenge

Unstable voltage levels from the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) caused repeated inverter tripping, affecting plant uptime and generation.

DE installed a high-capacity voltage stabilizer, ensuring steady input voltage, protecting all inverters, and enabling uninterrupted generation.

2. Difficulty realising savings independently

After Phase 1 (three rooftops), the customer tried adding more systems independently but faced execution challenges and lower savings.

DE was re-engaged for Phase 2, using its engineering expertise and performance monitoring to deliver five additional rooftops with reliable performance and clear savings.

Impact and benefits

FINANCIAL

28% annual cost savings on electricity bills.

ENVIRONMENTAL

2,43,007 kWh clean energy generated so far; 176 tonnes CO₂ offset, equal to 123 tonnes of coal saved or 38 cars taken off the road.
